Michelle Murray started Selah Academy for the Arts in 2001. She teaches English/Humanities, French, Drama, Flute and Musical Theater.
She graduated with a bachelor's degree in Creative Writing and a minor in Music from Bob Jones University in 2001. She also studied enough credit hours for undeclared minors in French and Dramatic Productions.
She studied the Language Arts four-year course A Word in Season with the founder, Pat McFarlane, during High School. She helped as a grader and assistant teacher for younger classes during her senior year. She enjoyed the experience and was excited to return to teach A Word in Season classes after college.
Michelle has directed over 40 plays with Selah, and she enjoys working with students to develop and showcase their specific talents.
She completed a summer ministry and language study in France and Quebec, Canada. And she leads a group of students to Slovakia to teach English Camps every summer.
She has played the flute for the Bob Jones University Concert Band and Flute Choir. And she plays regularly at her church.
She loves the beauty of art and making history and the art of communication come alive for her students.
